- General Synod backs ban of conversion therapy: Last weekend’s Synod passed motions rejecting the authority of Scripture, supporting a full ban of therapy for unwanted same-sex attraction and supporting special liturgy to affirm changed gender. - French bishop warns of demographic replacement by Muslims: Catholic Archbishop of Strasbourg Luc Ravel has spoken out about high Muslim birth rates in France and the dangers of a gradual demographic overtake. Read more here.
Israel and Middle East
- Terror attack near/on Temple Mount: Three Israeli-Arabs attacked police with guns and knives this morning before being neutralised. Two policemen and the three attackers have died. Temple Mount has been closed and Friday prayers cancelled for the first time since 2000. Read more here and here.
- British policeman saves Jewish man from Arab gang: Sergeant Richard Burgess, a Christian policeman from Essex who was touring Israel, intervened successfully to save a Jewish man being attacked by three others. He sustained injuries and is being considered for a bravery award. Read more here.
- UN anti-Israel farce continues at UNESCO: Following its resolution last week labelling Israel as the ‘occupying power’ in Jerusalem, UNESCO has now approved a Palestinian request to label the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron as a Palestinian heritage site endangered by Israel.
