  • Christian doctor vindicated: Christian GP Richard Scott, hounded by the National Secular Society for offering to pray with patients, has had his case thrown out by the General Medical Council. Read more here.
  • 3,000 attend anti-Semitism rally outside Parliament: Thousands gathered in solidarity with the Jewish people, protesting the spread of anti-Semitism in Britain. Read more here.
  • Catholic politician sues Lib Dems: Rob Flello, who was deselected as a Lib Dem candidate because of his views on abortion and same-sex marriage, is taking the Party to court for religious discrimination. Read more here.

Church Issues

  • Reinhard Bonnke dies: The 79-year-old evangelist passed on 7 December and is survived by his wife, three children and eight grand-children. Bonnke is best known for his outreach crusades, especially in Africa. He is thought to have led some 79 million to Christ. Read more here.

World Scene

  • France votes: anti-Zionism is anti-Semitism: France’s National Assembly has voted through a resolution calling on its Government to accept the IHRA definition of anti-Semitism which recognises that some forms of hostility towards Israel are anti-Semitic. Read more here. More than 100 tombstones in a Jewish cemetery near Strasbourg were defaced earlier this week.
  • Trump signs anti-Semitism order: President Trump has signed an executive order addressing rising levels of anti-Semitism on US university campuses, requiring the use of the IHRA definition of anti-Semitism in evaluating incidents and recognising Jews as a protected ethnic minority, not just a religious group.   • Kosher supermarket shooting, New Jersey: Six people are dead after two attackers linked with the Black Hebrew Israelite group opened fire on a Jewish market in Jersey City. Read more here .
  • Brazilian Christians in outcry over Netflix film: A Brazilian Christmas film depicting Jesus as gay has prompted protest from hundreds of thousands of conservative Christians, particularly in Brazil itself. Read more here.
  • Israel Folau settles with Rugby Australia: The rugby player, who was sacked for posting Bible verses on social media, has reached a settlement with his former employer. Read more here.

  • Israel to vote again, 2 March 2020: An unprecedented third election within the space of a year will be held in the spring, as the 22nd Knesset voted to dissolve itself this week. Read more here. Netanyahu will remain as Prime Minister until the election but will quit his other ministerial posts by the end of the year.
